This ancient inn has changed little over the last 700 years. As you approach it over the old packhorse bridge, and enter into this charming, civilised hostelry, there will always be a warm welcome from your third generation hosts Tim and Lindsay Walker and staff. The interior is furnished with antiques and a few tasteful prints, real fires in winter adding to the welcome. Our award winning floral displays outside add the finishing touch.
Only home-prepared food is served, and is some of the best around. You won’t find muzak or alcopops nor foreign beers brewed under license in Hull. You will find fine ales from Timothy Taylor and other truly independent brewers; a good selection of imported beers and lagers from around the world; a good and oft changing wine list with many available by the glass and a wide range of spirits and soft drinks.
We care passionately about what we do, and constantly strive to maintain and enhance the ambience of our beautiful pub. Our efforts have been recognised by many of the leading pub and food guides over the years, and we are currently featured in The Good Pub Guide; Alastair Sawdays Pubs and Inns; The AA Pub Guide; The Good Beer Guide; The Telegraph Quiet Pint, and the Camra Good Pub Food Guide to name but some. We are also the home of the Pork Pie Appreciation Society.
